With a few days remaining for 2023 to wrap up, Cardano developer Sebastien Guillemot has provided insight into the blockchain’s ambitious vision for next year.

Guillemot took to X yesterday to disclose plans to develop multiple projects that would combine Arbitrum (ARB) with Cardano (ADA) and Mina Protocol (MINA) in 2024.

In the wake of the recent downturn in Ethereum sentiment, Guillemot mentioned that he had a great experience working with Arbitrum. Guillemot, who co-founded Paima Studios and DcSpark, is known for advancing notable layer-2 (L2) solutions.

Cardano Users Can Play Arbitrum Games

Earlier this year, Paima Studio released an L2 solution, dubbed Paima Engine, that facilitates on-chain gaming experiences for users.

According to Guillemot, the L2 framework, which initially focused on Ethereum-based platforms, is almost done integrating with Cardano. Guillemot explained that the integration will make it possible for Cardano users to play games deployed on the Arbitrum network.

ZK Cryptography to Scale Decentralized Games

In a recent blog post, Paima Studios highlights plans to leverage ZK (zero-knowledge) cryptography to scale decentralized gaming projects to rival Web 2.

The blog post noted that even though Layer-1 networks have more users and liquidity, they are still lagging behind in terms of scaling and do not support mass multiplayer online games (MMOs).

With Paima Studios detailing plans to leverage ZK cryptography to scale decentralized games, it hopes to address the issue of data storage on L1 blockchains.

Mina Protocol to the Rescue, But There’s a Catch

It is interesting to note that Paima identified Mina Protocol as a potential game-changer for its ZK layer. However, the blog posts emphasized the need to make the Mina Protocol scale to enable it to become the suitable ZK layer for Paima.

To achieve this goal, Paima disclosed that it partnered with Zeko Labs to develop an L2 scaling solution for Mina Protocol. According to the blog post, the development team will build an account abstraction model inside the Mina Protocol that will allow other blockchain users to play games without having a Mina Wallet.

As ADA enthusiasts await the implementation of this ambitious vision, the cryptocurrency is currently trading at $0.6, up 1.2% in the past 24 hours.

On the other hand, ARB and MINA currently change hands at $1.33 and $1.34, respectively.
